Paloma Health Review: Testing Your Thyroid at Home

Are you ready to begin testing your thyroid at home?

I’m going to share my review of Paloma Health and their thyroid testing kit and what the other benefits of the Paloma membership can also include.

In my work with women, I often come across cases where thyroid imbalances are quite common, leading to symptoms of either low or high thyroid levels. It's crucial to note that the issue may sometimes go unnoticed because the full panel of thyroid hormones have not been tested and comprehensive testing of all relevant labs is necessary for a complete understanding.

Why Thyroid Health Matters

The thyroid plays a critical role in regulating metabolism and breaking down food into energy. Any imbalance in thyroid levels can impact overall health. Many women experience symptoms associated with both low and high thyroid levels.

When the thyroid is not functioning optimally, fatigue and weight gain can occur. If weight loss is a goal, it's advisable to consider checking your thyroid levels to ensure they are within a healthy range.

Paloma Testing Kit and Benefits

I ran the test on myself at home so I'll guide you through using a test kit on myself, giving you a glimpse of the process.

What sets Paloma Health thyroid test apart is its comprehensive panel, including TSH (commonly tested), free T4, T3, TPO, and the option to add reverse T3. This is particularly beneficial if you're experiencing symptoms despite having a normal TSH.

What makes this company stand out is the opportunity to consult with holistic doctors. In case there's an issue requiring medication, having a knowledgeable doctor is crucial. It's worth noting that doctors are licensed by state, so the availability of doctors may vary depending on your location.

After allowing the test kit to dry for 30 minutes it is ready to send off. The simplicity of this at-home testing kit is truly great. You just need to put your name and date on the provided card, use the biohazard bag that comes with the lancets and bandages, and conveniently drop it off at the post office. Then inn about a week, you should receive my results.

Upon receiving my results, I found the entire process to be seamless. The updates throughout the processing stages provided a reassuring sense of progress. Fortunately, all my results looked good, with only a slight elevation in TPO, the antibodies to the thyroid. It was still well within the normal range (0 to 70.)

At Home Thyroid Testing Lab Values

It's crucial to note that conventional doctors often use normal lab range values, which may not capture symptoms for some individuals.

Dr. Aviva Romm is a well-known holistic medical doctor. She has a great book called the the Adrenal Thyroid Revolution where she talks about lab values and how to look at them. She also shares tips on if your lab values are within normal range but you are having symptoms, what you should do.

Paloma Health also offers great options and variety of doctors to talk with if you need more help.
