Why I Choose Clinical EFT Over Tapping Scripts

Using tapping scripts and clinical EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) can lead to very different results, and that is why I went through a thorough certification process to become an EFT-accredited certified practitioner and to learn how to use clinical EFT.

Tapping scripts are pre-written sequences focused on general topics and can provide some immediate relief, like a "band-aid" for emotions, offering a quick lift in mood. However, they may only skim the surface, temporarily distracting from or neutralizing a feeling without fully addressing its root cause.

In contrast, clinical EFT is a deeper, more individualized approach where you focus specifically on your own emotions, thoughts, and past experiences, gradually releasing underlying emotional blocks or patterns. By targeting these specific issues, clinical EFT helps to process and resolve the feelings that are stuck rather than just replacing them with positive thoughts. When you tap on these points while focusing on a specific issue, it can send calming signals to the brain, reducing the intensity of negative emotions and often helping to reframe your thoughts.

We also check progress objectively by rating specific thoughts or feelings at the start and end of each session. If you see the intensity of those thoughts decrease over time, it’s a strong sign that EFT is making a difference for you.

  • It varies for everyone. Many people notice a quick drop in the intensity of certain emotions during or right after their first session, with even more shifts in emotions and thinking over time as they continue. However, there are many factors at play—such as the specific issue, consistency in practice, and personal background—so results aren’t guaranteed. Regular sessions tend to build momentum, helping you experience deeper and more lasting changes.

  • You can practice EFT on your own, and I even recommend doing so, whether or not you’re working with a practitioner. However, working with a trained EFT practitioner is like having a personal coach who can see the whole field while you’re in the game. They help you navigate the emotions tied to your issue, offering an outside perspective and tailored EFT techniques based on your needs. This can make your sessions more effective and help you get deeper results.

  • No, you don’t have to fully believe in EFT for it to be effective. EFT works by combining accupressure points with focusing on specific thoughts or emotions, which helps to calm the body’s natural stress response. Even if you’re skeptical, EFT can still work, and many people who were unsure at first have seen results just by trying it out.
